Cleaning & Care of Awesome Plant

After each planting, we recommend cleaning and sanitizing your Awesome Plant for the best results. First power off. Second, detach the extension rod (light post) and empty the water. Use a scrub brush or similar cleaning tool to remove the roots and any other debris from the water tank. Rinse and refill the water tank and start growing.
How to prevent algae from growing?
Algae is harmless to your plants so there is no need to worry. To prevent algae from growing, avoid direct sunlight into the water tank. Cover empty pod holes with spacers will help
How to prevent mold?
Mold (small white spots) are likely to grow in high humidity (>60%) & temperature. You may notice mold growing around the edge of the grow baskets. Mold can be annoying, we suggest to keep your grow deck clean, always remove any dead leaves and provide good air circulation.
If grow sponge or plant has mold, remove it out asap, before spreading to other plants
Plant Care
How do I prune and harvest lettuce/salad greens?
Lettuce is one of the fastest-growing indoor crops and it's a staple. With Awesome Plant, you can enjoy delicious spring greens all throughout fall and winter! Cut the larger leaves at the base of the lettuce plant. Be sure to leave the smaller leaves alone so the plant continues to grow. Or you can cut about a third of a lettuce leaf from the top. Do this for each leaf. This promotes continued growth.
How do I prune and harvest herbs?
Pruning your herbs is important to keep them growing and healthy in your garden. You can start pruning when the plants are about 2 inches tall. We recommend only pruning about ⅓ of the plant at a time. When growing herbs, keep in mind basil usually sprouts within a week of planting, and grows rapidly. Be sure to prune your basil from the top as needed to keep the grow lights at the lowest position until all the herbs have a chance to catch up. Raising the grow light to accommodate the basil can slow or stop growth for other smaller, slower-growing herbs.
Why do my plants grow so slowly and look unhealthy?
Variety of reasons may cause this: if the water is not being aerated, the roots can't send enough oxygen up to the plants; insufficient light; overcrowding plants; insufficient nutrients. We recommend to keep the garden running (pump & light) and light hood just a few inches above plant. Prune the taller and bushier plants to allow space and light for the shorter plants
